Get to Know SynXGlobal Inc.’s CEO, Jay Pearson

So first, introduce yourself and tell us a little about your story.

What inspired you to start a trucking company with a specific focus on supporting minority truck drivers?

ā€œWell, no one provides minorities with the certification and opportunities that they deserve. Through another trucking company I ran, I learned a lot about the drivers specifically, and learned that many are barely seeing their families and are struggling to do that. I thought that it wasn’t right because they spend hours, days, sometime weeks on the road away from their families, so it’s no reason they shouldn’t be getting paid more. As a father and entrepreneur myself, I hate spending time away from my children, and I do what I do so that one day I have all of the time to spend with them.

Could you share some key elements of your mission and vision for the company, especially as it relates to empowering minority entrepreneurs in the trucking industry?

ā€œOur idea is two-fold. One, acquire small to mid-size companies to create more resources and Tier 1 opportunities for minority drivers. The second is to certify minority drivers for their performance. No one has ever certified minorities and their ability to perform on a Tier 1 level. SynXGlobal will enroll owner operators in a 12-week program to teach and train them on how to perform and to be able to exceed the standard expectations. This model will allow them to make the money they deserve and most importantly be able to spend more time with their families.

What unique challenges do minority drivers face in the industry, and how does your company address these challenges?

I’m a father above everything else. Everything I do is for my children, so I understand why truck drivers work tirelessly to get back to support their families. I want to ensure they do so.

What strategies have you implemented to promote diversity and inclusion within your company and the broader trucking and logistics industry?

We believe that diversity and inclusion should be the standard not an inclusion to meet

Can you describe the key services and support your company provides to minority truck drivers to help them succeed in their businesses?

We have a few membership options that drivers will be able to enroll in. Our monthly membership will bring drivers access to truck and trailer leasing, dispatchers, mental health services, and a team to help them get their back office in shape. Our Certified Minority Tier 1 membership will be our 12-week program that will certify drivers and their performance.

Can you discuss any future plans or initiatives your company has in place to continue supporting and uplifting minority trucking entrepreneurs?

We have a few initiatives and plans in motion. We are founding a 501(C)(3) organization that will pay the tuition for graduating seniors, who are interested in becoming a truck driver, or going to trade school for construction, plumbing, HVAC. We are also in the works of creating different division that will focus on assisting minorities in those sectors, construction, hvac, and plumbing. SynXGlobal wants to ensure we are always giving advantages to any industry where minorities are disadvantaged.
